Victor Babes” National Institute of Pathology (INCDVB), Romania

Founded in 1887, “Victor Babes” National Institute of Pathology (INCDVB) from Bucharest is the first institute of biomedical research in Romania. Still at the forefront of fundamental research, the Institute is today a center of reference for human disease diagnosis and monitoring. We are using all organizational resources to address major societary needs in the area of health and to provide scientifically sound instruments and solutions in the benefit of patients and health professionals. The institute correlates the identified needs at national level with the scientific and health challenges at European level, thus providing the most effective ways of access to state of the art knowledge / solutions and acting as a scientific connection with health and research entities in Europe. The institute provides support for strategic planning and decision at national level for policy makers in the field of biomedical research and healthcare.

Sharing efforts with partner medical institutions (in an attempt to build a local translational research community), the institute is responding with up-to-date solutions to major human health, including neuropsychiatric conditions issues. The institute, organized in three main research departments (pathology, immunology, biology) is using state of the-art methodology to develop innovative diagnostic tools and personalized medicine strategies. The institute has a long and fruitful collaboration through many national and international research projects with “Prof. Dr. Al. Obregia” Clinical Hospital of Psychiatry, representing a unit of reference in the field of psychiatry in Romania, providing mental health services for child and adolescent, adult, elderly and pediatric neurology services.
