The University of Oulu (UOULU), Finland was founded in 1958 and is among the largest universities in Finland with 16 000 students and 3500 staff members working in ten faculties. UOULU has high-quality research environments for international research groups. The UOULU has experience in participating in European and international projects and networks, and is well equipped to manage also large-scale projects with multiple international partners. The UOULU has the northernmost located Faculty of Medicine in Finland with 1300 students and 400 staff members, situated in conjunction with the University Hospital. The faculty has an important role in creating modern, high-quality medical and health care services in northern Finland. The faculty has a strong research-oriented education system, providing future researchers and health care professionals with a broad expertise. The faculty has a strong network including hospitals, domestic and foreign research institutes as well as the private sector. There is also strong multidisciplinary research between research groups within the faculty and research groups in other faculties.
