THE TRAINING

PACT (Pre-school Autism Communication Therapy) is the first and world leading autism intervention tested to show sustained reduction in autism symptoms (Pickles et al. 2016) and improving communication initiation skills in the long-term.

  • The training takes place over 2 full days and will be held in English.
  • It involves a presentation on the theoretical background and stages of the PACT manual.
  • Training includes DVD observation and rating adult and child communication at different stages of the programme.
  • Trainees practice measuring the communication goals and criteria for each stage, setting communication targets and methods of using video feedback.

How does it work?

  • Through structured video-feedback and coaching techniques, therapists help caregivers to recognise and respond to their autistic child’s altered communication.
  • PACT therapists empower parents with key skills proven to lead to better child social communication outcomes.
  • Caregivers receive 1 ½ – 2-hour sessions alternate weeks for 6 months) with take home written goals for daily practice.

Who is it for?
Professionals (Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Speech and Language Therapists, specialist teachers) who are trained and experienced in the social communication needs of children with autism of 2-10 years of age.

What will I get?
Upon completion of the course, delegates will be equipped to administer PACT with practice cases.

Post Course Fidelity Rating is required to gain full accreditation in PACT for clinical or research practice. At the extra cost of CHF 930, the course provides clinical supervision for 2 practice cases submitted by trainees

NEW ASDEU ON-LINE SURVEYS ONGOING

The ASDEU programme has recently launched several on-line surveys. We welcome contributions from everyone with an interest in autism.

We need to gather information about:

Currently all the surveys are available in English and Spanish and they are being translated into many different European languages. As other translations are completed we will announce it here.

1-2 December, 2017 – 20 International Congress of Autism

Autism, Seville, one of the main Spanish organizations working for people with autism and their families organizes the 20 International Congress of Autism

15 September 2016 – Edinburgh, mid-programme ASDEU conference

Partner conference to review the programme and its findings at the mid-point. Note, the conference will precede Autism Europe Congress, taking place on 16-18 September.

Meeting location: COSLA, Verity House, 19 Haymarket Yards, Edinburgh, EH12 5BH

This meeting will serve to take stock of the work in progress and to take corrective actions if needed.

All ASDEU partners will be attending. Representatives from the EC, WHO, Hungarian Ministry of Health and Autism Speaks have been also confirmed as guests.

Federación Autismo Madrid” hands one if its Annual Awards to ASDEU Project

Within the “World Autism Awareness Day” celebration in Spain, on the 2nd of April,  the “Federación Autismo Madrid” gave one of its nine Annual Awards to ASDEU Project. The project coordinador, Dr. Manuel Posada, was the selected person to collect the award.

 

During the event, Dr. Posada appreciated the effort all the consortium members are making in all work packages of this big project.

June 1-4 – 60th Congress of AEPNYA – a shared initiative with AACAP

We are delighted to invite you to the 60th Congress of AEPNYA (Spain’s Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Association), that will be held at the Kursaal Congress Palace on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June 2016 in Donostia / San Sebastián, Spain. This special event is a joint initiative with the AACAP (American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry) from the USA, the very first time this world leading organization comes to Europe.
